Where is Anguilla?

Anguilla, the most northerly of the Leeward Islands is just 16 miles long and three miles wide. Miles of pristine white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters surround this Caribbean paradise. The reef system provides excellent diving and snorkeling. The impressive number of shipwrecks has earned Anguilla the reputation of the “Wreck Dive Capital of the Caribbean”.

Currency

The Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD) is the basic currency, and the United States Dollar is widely accepted throughout Anguilla.

ATM’s Currency Dispensed

ATMs island-wide dispense both XCD and USD. ATMs accept Visa, MasterCard, and Cirrus.

Driving in Anguilla

Driving is on the left-hand side of the road, and a local driver’s license is required which is provided by your local vehicle rental agent.

Nearest International Airport

The nearest international gateways are St. Maarten/Martin (7 minute flight), San Juan, Puerto Rico and Antigua (1 hour flight).

Departure Taxes

A US $20 departure tax applies to all tourists departing from Anguilla, whether by plane or ferry. There is no charge for children under twelve years old. The departure tax for day trips to surrounding islands is US $8 for trips through Blowing Point Ferry Terminal.

Traveling Documents

A passport is required when traveling to Anguilla. Some territories may require a visa.
